After his father, he learns the instruments builder craft.
He effects improvements in bassoon, Pan's pipe, kettledrums and clarinet. He uses steam for organs.
His finest invention, saxophone, results from clarinet's simple tongue combination with oboe's mecanism and fingerings .
He tries to promote it in Paris. Encouraged by Berlioz, he teaches it in the Academy of Music from 1858 to 1870.
After his death, ruined and exhausted from fighting to protect his patents, saxophon falls into oblivition.
Not before 1942 was reopened the class in Paris Academy of Music .
Jazz finally will establish the invention.
