Jewish Passover-date
The 14th day of the Nisan month (spring)

Easter and Passover

Christian Easter : date
The Sunday after the full moon following the spring Equinox. 13 days later in the Oriental Churches where calendar is not Gregorian. A fixed date for all Christian Churches is under consideration.
In the beginning : 2 very old feasts :
*of nomadic shepherds offering up the first lamb.
*of cultivators who - offering earth products - threw away old bread and in a hurry got ready the new one, unleavened for lack of time.
Jewish Passover
The present Passover commemorates the departure from Egypt and Israel's freeing from slavery .
Lamb's blood with what Israelites had marked their doors had preserved their children from death.
In remembrance of this day, Jews eat unleavened bread and lamb prepared with bitten herbs.
Christian Easter
Christianity sees, in Israel liberation and its preservation by lamb's blood, a harbinger figure of Christ - true eternal lamb sacrificed on the Cross for everyone's salvation - liberating us from death and sin and risen from the dead on Easter morning.
Rites are diverse : bare Protestant ceremonies, new fire and paschal candle in Catholic Church, merry and sumptuous rites in the Oriental Churches.
oeufs de Pâques
Life' symbol, egg was naturally connected with Easter freeing and Resurrection. In Orthodox countries, gorgeously ornamented eggs are offered or hung in Easter trees.
In France, children look for chocolate eggs hidden in gardens by "bells back from Rome where they went during Holy Week".
