Vitalie Cuif , mother of Arthur Rimbaud, owes to his father the farm, in the little village Roche near Attigny, where she has grown up and worked hard. After she get married, she lives in Charleville where Arthur was born. In 1863, a fire ruins the farm. It's but in 1873, as Voncq, the nearby village, has just been served of railway, when the rebuilding starts. Rimbaud family, without Arthur, stays there, but, on Good Friday , Arthur arrives unexpectedly. He begins writing the "Livre païen" or "Livre nègre" which lastly will be named "Une saison en enfer". He still returns to Roche after Verlaine has shot him in Brussels, there too he takes a rest in 1879 after he has catched a typhoid fever in Cyprus. While he spends an 11 years time in Arabie and in Abyssinia (Ethiopia) , his letters reflect his landowner's concerns. He comes back on the 24th of July 1891, with a leg cut off . On the 23th of August , he leaves Roche for the last time, via the railway station of Voncq, to Marseille where he dies.
